Women for Women International – Sponsor a Sister
Amour Destine are passionate about impacting lives not only in the UK, but also abroad. Our fundraising aims also benefit projects in hard to reach communities with the aim of empowering their communities, relieving poverty and improving social integration. We began this work in the summer of 2016 and proud to share we have been successful in funding for one year the life of a female living in Congo through the Women for Women international UK, sponsor a sister program.
This initiative is helping her to rebuild her life. They offer support in countries affected by conflict and war, Women for Women International supports the most marginalized women to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their home and community, and connect to networks for support. By utilizing skills, knowledge, and resources, she is able to create sustainable change for herself, her family, and community.
When our sister enrolled on the programme in October 2016, one of the life skills trainers in the Democratic Republic of Congo interviewed her, to get to know her and find out about her current circumstances and goals for the future.
“I am grateful to my new sister, for giving me the opportunity I have been waiting for” ~ Our sister
let me tell you a bit about our sister:
She is 18-24 years old
She is single/never married
She is the proud mother of 1 boy
Our sister has survived against the odds, and expressed incredible determination to improve her situation. She is grateful to Amour Destine, her new sisters, for giving her the opportunity she’s been waiting for.
At her enrolment our sister received her women for women international membership card, with her name, her training group, and the name of her sponsor – us!
On completion of the 12 month programme we are delighted to report that our sister successfully graduated and has started her very own clothing business.
