Salary: £26-28,500 p.a
Location: Hybrid working within the Royal Borough of Greenwich and surrounding boroughs
Contract: Fixed term until 2025

About Amour Destiné
We provide support to black/black mixed race women affected by trauma such as being care experienced, Cultural Harmful Practices (CHP), Domestic Abuse (DA) and Sexual Violence (SV) in the Royal Borough of Greenwich & surrounding boroughs.
A culturally specific service to implement positive change and a better quality of sustained life by improving the quality and access to DA & SV services for black women.
We aim to achieve this by bridging the gap between the services available to them and the criminal justice process.
We help women affected to access free support services designed to support with an array of challenges that may arise because of CHP/DA/SV. Depending on their needs, we will liaise with organisations on their behalf and help them to communicate effectively during meetings to find solutions to their problem. We also offer 1:1 and group educational wellbeing workshops, led by inspiring women with similar experiences.
We also work with partners to influence change through research, training and consulting organisations to improve responses and access to services for black women and girls affected by CHP, DA and SV.
About the Outreach Officer role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our growing team as an Outreach Officer at Amour Destiné for a strategic, human centered and organised individual, who will play an important part in helping expand and nurture our existing community and will be building relationships with our key local friends & partners to further our message.
Working closely with the Director and team you will organise the delivery of our outreach projects by providing administrative support and being present at public events, first point of contact for service users and stakeholders as a resource for provision of information and support. You will also be expected to support the implementation of the support services strategy, by writing and submitting regularly monitoring reports. These are all key aspects of this role, as is identifying and successfully bringing in new opportunities/ideas and coproducing with our women for the development and delivery of our specialist service and community education events which is aligned with the strategic vision for our women.
About you
You will be passionate and committed to working within a multi-disciplinary team and will have a demonstrable track record of working with similar women that access our support service to live healthy safe and happy lives.
Your abilities extend to helping us to raise awareness about women rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies and proactively advocate to ensure barriers to accessing support and protection are reduced. You will work as an educator to raise awareness and upskill professionals within Children Social Care occasionally across the UK plus work with colleagues to successfully develop and deliver training to that effect.
It is essential to the development of Amour Destiné service delivery that the post holder is able to respond flexibly to changes in the requirements of this post. This job description is therefore a guide and not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities the post holder may have over time.
The successful application will have
- At least 2 years experience of working with black/global majority women survivors of harm such as domestic / sexual abuse within a trauma-informed and inclusive framework
- Experience of providing information to black and global majority, in particular those experiencing/ at risk of harmful practices , domestic/sexual abuse
- Experience of providing non-judgemental and confidential support to individuals, and of encouraging them to rebuild their lives
- Experience of using a case management system to evidence work, in line with monitoring requirements and providing timely information to managers to ensure contract compliance
- Knowledge & understanding of the practical, emotional, social, and economic issues facing black and global majority women affected by harmful practices , domestic/sexual abuse and other forms of violence and abuse at risk of harmful practices
- Knowledge of the range of options available to survivors of harmful practices , domestic/sexual abuse including safe housing, criminal justice, and civil remedies
- Knowledge of issues relating to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
- Working knowledge of current immigration, policing, and social housing issues relevant to harmful practices , domestic/sexual abuse
- Ability to demonstrate empathy for the issues and barriers faced by black and global majority women
- Ability to maintain professionalism when dealing with crises and challenging situations
- Ability to work in partnership and build and maintain effective working relationships with other teams and external organisations that offer services to service users
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of creating digital communications, information resources and email marketing
- Willingness to work flexible hours where required to meet the needs of service users
- Experience of project work connecting & building within the Black & Global majority community
- Have a passion and sound understanding of the needs and issues faced by socially disadvantaged people
- Willingness to travel between Lewisham, Greenwich, Bexley, Newham & Tower Hamlets for outreach with our community friends and partners
- A confident user of MSOffice and virtual meeting platforms
- Have a careful and analytical working style
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of Safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults
- Experience of creating impacting digital communications & email marketing using digital marketing tools
- Experience of working as part of a multi disciplinary team
- Experience undertaking complex clinical interventions, assessments, including risk assessments
- Experience working cooperatively with a range of agencies
- Experience planning and evaluating community projects
- Experience of volunteer management (would be a bonus; however, it is not essential for the role)

- Ability to speak a language relevant to black and global majority women
- strong commitment to tackling all forms of violence against women and children within a secular framework, and to fighting for the freedoms and rights of women and girls
